Melbourne Skydeck is a skyscraper in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Also known as Eureka Tower, it stands at 297.3 meters (975 feet). The exterior was completed on June 1, 2006, after construction began in August 2002. The plaza was completed in June 2006, and the structure was inaugurated on October 11, 2006. Fender Katsalidis Architects of Melbourne designed the project, which was constructed by Grocon (Grollo Australia). Eureka Tower Pty Ltd, a joint venture by Daniel Grollo (Grocon), investor Tab Fried, and one of the tower’s architects Nonda Katsalidis, was responsible for the development of the tower.

It held the record for the world’s tallest residential tower until Ocean Heights, and the HHHR Tower in Dubai surpassed it. Melbourne’s tallest building was from 2006 to 2019 until Australia 108 topped. It is presently Australia’s third tallest building, behind the Q1 in Queensland and Australia 108, and the second tallest to roof (excluding the spire), behind the latter tower. It was the world’s 15th tallest residential structure as of 2016.

Features of Melbourne Skydeck

The Eureka Stockade, which occurred during the Victorian gold rush in 1854, inspired the name Eureka Tower. This has been reflected in the building’s architecture, with a gold crown signifying the gold rush and a scarlet stripe reflecting the bloodshed during the revolution. The blue glass cladding that covers the majority of the structure represents the stockade’s flag’s blue background, while the white lines also represent the Eureka Stockade flag. The white horizontal stripes are also markings on the measuring staff of a surveyor.
